LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Ridge Meadows Youth Impact Summit is a weekend filled with inspiration, passion, and new friendship for 60-70 students in grades 19-12 residing in the cities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

    • Open to all applicants, from those with the basic fundamentals of leadership to those who decide that they want to make a positive difference in their community/world.
    • Participants will engage in a variety of leadership activities, hear from professional speakers, and be given the chance to network with other participants and leaders in their communities.
    • Held at Alexandria House in Surrey Oct 4 – Oct 6, 2019
    • Applications generally accepted during summer. First come first Serve as there are limited seats available.

Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Youth Futures Leadership Development Program

This summer program is geared towards youth entering grades eight to 12. Youth will learn what leadership means and participate in practical components to gain leadership skills. Participants will learn how to plan and implement games and crafts for children and other activities for children in a recreational setting. All participants will be required to attend a three-day overnight orientation, weekly training seminars and commit to 8-10 hours weekly for volunteer experience. Youth can graduate through the program’s three stages:

  • Youth Alumni Leadership
  • Youth Futures Junior Leadership
  • Youth Futures Senior Leadership

Pearson Youth Leadership Summer Program

  • This program allows twelve, grade 11 & 12 students an exciting leadership opportunity
  • Learn how a successful business operates

  • Share ideas and give a voice to youth in our community

Rotary International Youth Adventures in Leadership

  • Annual weekend camp held each January, for students in grades 10 & 11
  • In just one weekend: learn how to be a better leader; meet other youth leaders; talk to business and community leaders; plan your future; have fun!!
  • Applications are available in the Career Centre
  • Costs are covered by Rotary International

The Minerva Foundation Learning to Lead for Grade 11 Girls

This annual Learning to Lead program is held during the spring, in Vancouver. It is an exceptional all-expense opportunity for Grade 11 female students to meet and interact with graduate students, young professional women and accomplished community leaders for a weekend of inspiring speakers and workshops. High schools are designated to recommend students for this opportunity.

UBC’s Student Leadership Conference

  • Annual Conference held in January, at UBC
  • High schools can nominate an outstanding graduating student leader
  • Participants get the opportunity to hear inspiring speakers, participate in workshops that develop leadership skills and connect with leaders at UBC
